Ajmer Sharif Dargah is one of the most important Sufi shrines in India. It is located in the city of Ajmer, Rajasthan. The dargah is the mausoleum of the Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, who is popularly known as Khwaja Gharib Nawaz, meaning “the benefactor of the poor.”
Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti was a 12th-century Sufi saint who played a significant role in spreading Islam in South Asia. He was known for his teachings of peace, love, and harmony, and is revered by people from different faiths.
The dargah complex consists of several buildings, courtyards, and tombs. The main attraction is the marble-domed tomb of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, which is surrounded by a silver railing and a marble screen. The dargah attracts millions of pilgrims and devotees from all over the world, especially during the annual Urs festival, which commemorates the death anniversary of the saint.
The dargah is open to people of all faiths, and visitors can seek blessings, offer prayers, and make offerings at the shrine. It is believed that offering a chadar (a sheet of cloth) and floral tributes at the tomb can bring blessings and fulfillment of desires. Qawwali music, a form of devotional Sufi music, is also performed daily at the dargah, creating a spiritually uplifting atmosphere.

Dargah sharif is just 5 minute walking distance from Ajmer Railway station. Dargah is open early morning to till 9pm. The Urs festival at Ajmer is celebrated for six days of the month of Rajab. Rajab is the seventh month according to the Islamic lunar calendar. The festival is celebrated on the first six days of the Islamic month.
